PG Tips History
PG Tips was first launched under the Brooke Bond name in 1930. It is now established as the UK's number one tea brand and is the market leader in the UK tea bag market.

The well-known (in the UK) PG Tips chimps family advertising campaign was first screened at Christmas in 1956, making the chimp adverts the longest-running TV advertising campaign of any brand.

In January 2002, the new PG Tips advertising was launched. It was created by three times ACADEMY Award winning Aardman – who also created the blockbusting Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run. If you haven’t managed to catch an ad on TV yet, the humorous sitcom ads star four “plasticine animated” birds – the T-Birds – and follow the ups and downs of the 20-somethings as they rent a house together.

The launch of PG Tips Pyramid bags in 1996 represented one of the tea market's major innovations. Over the years, PG Tips has joined forces with various charities including the WWF and Comic Relief to raise millions of pounds for good causes.
